Hospitals are getting on board, with hospices and nursing facilities to follow
Kathleen Cheney presented “Managed Long Term Care for Nursing Home Residents” to the New York State Health Facilities Association on January 9, 2015.
Mandatory enrollment for new nursing home admissions duly eligible for Medicaid and Medicare is set to begin in the five counties of New York City on February 1, 2015. Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester Counties are to follow on April 1st.
Medicaid-only residents will be enrolled in mainstream plans. Nursing home operators are encouraged to join provider networks and also to get involved with DSRIP and Performing Provider Networks to maintain their referral sources. Contracting issues were reviewed with particular attention to prompt pay laws and indemnification provisions.
